Over the course of seven years as the brand director of Barebottle Brewing, Pine designed 300+ beer can & bottle designs.
The experimental iterative approach to beer design allowed the brand to quickly build hype around the latest release. With over 300+ designs released the challenge was to maintain brand recognition while allowing room for the "Visual Flavor" of each beer to shine.
Humans use all senses while eating & drinking, we used this insight to extend the concept of flavor into the visual realm. The goal of each label is to visualize the flavor of the liquid inside.
The Barebottle workmark became the monolithic unchanging brand block omnipresent across all packaged designs. Inspired by the Absolut Vodka brand design system. The goal is to allow the brand flexibility to iterate while remaining instantly recognizable to consumers. Everything else is open to change depending on the visual flavor of the specific beer.
