Brews On The Bay (BOTB) is an incredibly unique event hosted by the Bay Area Brewers Guild. Step abord a WWII era navel vessel packed with fresh craft beer and good vibes. Soak up the sun and suds with views of Golden Gate Bridge from the Pier 39 dock.
I was approached to design the marketing material for the 2019 festival with the goal of crafting something visually stunning which would be used around the City.
For inspiration I turned to...
⚓️ The iconic S.S. Jeremiah O'Brian.
🟠 The "haze craze" in craft beer.
In order to design the winning poster above, I created a lush hazy orange-red gradient to evoke the popular hazy IPAs that had been sweeping the craft beer scene. However for the ship, I stumbled across my idea while doing site exploration. This old arch from a derelict train line proved the perfect frame for the S.S Jeremiah O'Brian. The vintage WWII stencil inspired font provided the perfect balance of vintage Americana and Bold Modernism.
I'm honored to have had the opportunity to design for such a fun, creative, unique event with such amazing people.
